Large Expansion Order from Pan-African Operator Group

Royal Tunbridge Wells, December 1, 2010. - Synchronica plc (AIM: SYNC, TSX-V: SYN), the international provider of next-generation mobile messaging services, has received a USD 975,000 volume expansion order for additional Mobile Gateway licenses from a tier one, pan-African mobile operator group.

This expansion order is in addition to the initial order for a pilot installation and associated professional services worth USD 752,000 under the groupwide framework agreement announced on 15 October 2010. This new order is the first expansion order received from this operator and brings the total deal value to date to USD 1,727,000.

According to a recent report from the United Nations, African mobile subscriptions continue to soar, rising from 54 million to almost 350 million between 2003 and 2008, the quickest growth in the world.

Furthermore, PC World forecasts mobile data to generate USD 2.2 billion in revenue in Africa by 2014, driven by mobile email and other value-added services. Mobile data and broadband technologies are increasingly being used by operators as a substitute for poor or non-existent fixed-line infrastructure in the region.

Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of Synchronica, comments: "We are pleased to see this significant expansion order from one of the largest operator groups in Africa, demonstrating commitment to a mass market rollout of their Synchronica-based mobile messaging solution in Africa."

"Across the continent, mobile phones are becoming an invaluable social tool that bring people together, seal business deals, and keep families in touch. Mobile Gateway's push email, synchronization, social networking, and mobile instant messaging are already helping carriers in Africa to improve customer stickiness and reduce churn", Brinkschulte adds.
