Land Development Consulting Firm Atwell-Hicks Merges with HEC Engineering, LLC; Expands National Presence

PHOENIX, May 31 /-- National land development consulting firm Atwell-Hicks announced today that it has expanded into the Southwest region as a result of the company's merger with HEC Engineering, LLC a Mesa, AZ-based firm serving greater Phoenix. The merger is a result of Atwell-Hicks' continuing national expansion efforts and HEC's desire to continue their fast- paced growth. Brian Wenzel, president of Atwell-Hicks along with Ted Northrop, principal of HEC Engineering made the announcement.

"A presence in the Southwest through this merger is in line with our strategic growth plan," said Wenzel. "While we continue to invest in the Midwest and Southeast regions as an organization, an office in greater Phoenix will help us service clients with development activity both in Arizona and throughout the region. HEC's impressive history, dynamic growth, and client relationships are a valuable asset to Atwell-Hicks."

HEC Engineering, with 100 employees, will now operate under the name Atwell-Hicks, with seven employees named partners. The merger coincides with the completion of a new main office campus located at 4700 East Southern Ave. in Mesa, AZ. HEC has historically provided civil engineering, surveying, planning and niche construction services on large-scale developments in the East Valley. Two existing project offices in Florence and Phoenix will remain open and continue to grow.

"We are thrilled to become part of the Atwell-Hicks team as they enter the Southwest market," stated Northrop, who will now serve as Atwell-Hicks' regional vice president for the Southwest region. "Atwell-Hicks' position as an industry leader and the company's commitment to its employees will enable us to offer our loyal employees and valued clients expanded programs and services, allowing them to better perform in the rapidly growing southwestern United States."

"We believe this is a perfect match for both companies," continued Northrop, "and we look forward to joining a firm respected for their progressive service offerings, unwavering commitment to client service and satisfaction and sincere appreciation for their employees."

The merger is part of Atwell-Hicks' 2007 expansion efforts. The firm, which has worked on projects in 35 states, will continue to expand its capabilities and operations while continuously identifying additional growth opportunities. Throughout 2007, the firm will be adding several new offices in the southeastern and southwestern United States as part of its commitment to servicing clients nationwide.
