New Center Powered by KUKA Robotics Technology Provides Hands On Automation Design & Programming Experience

Clinton Township, Michigan - February 12, 2007 - KUKA Robotics Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of industrial robots, today announced it has been selected by Ohio Northern University (ONU) to provide robotics for its newly remodeled and expanded robotics technology center. The center to be named the "ONU Robotics Technology Center of Excellence, powered by KUKA Robotics Corporation" will provide students with hands on design and programming experience using KUKA robots, controllers and software. The university opened the center located in Taft Memorial Hall on South Union Street in Ada, Ohio, on January 26th, 2007.

"ONU is the highest ranked university in the state of Ohio in its category in the recent U.S. News & World Report annual look at higher education and we share their commitment to excellence, so naturally we are delighted to be partnering with them in this exciting newly remodeled and expanded robotics center," said Kevin Kozuszek, director of marketing for KUKA Robotics Corporation.

The ONU Robotics Technology Center of Excellence is a part of their Department of Technological Studies, and is in their College of Arts and Sciences. Currently the center has seven KUKA KR3 robots including KUKA controllers and software. Five of the robots are being interfaced to PLCs and CNC machines in a simulated manufacturing environment performing loading, unloading, and part transfer functions. Two are being slated to be used by their award winning competitive traveling robotics team as they go from competition to competition.
