Johnson Matthey's Gas Turbine SCR System Design and Engineering Operation in California Awarded ISO 9001: 2008 Status by NSF International

The company's Quality Management System is certified world-class conforming to the latest standards

Malvern, PA, April 28, 2010 - Johnson Matthey's Stationary Emissions Control (SEC) group in Aliso Viejo, CA, has been awarded ISO 9001: 2008 status, by NSF International, Ann Arbor, MI, the world leader in standards development, product certification, education and risk management for public health and safety.

Especially significant is that the ISO 9001: 2008 designation certifies that Johnson Matthey's quality management system is in conformance with the latest worldwide standards.

Johnson Matthey's SEC group is a global leader in controlling emissions from gas turbines, diesel engines and other stationary sources. SEC designs and supplies catalytic emission control systems and catalysts for gas turbines and boilers, stationary gas and diesel engines, coal power plants, locomotives, marine vessels and a wide range of industrial processes.

SEC's Aliso Viejo operation specializes in selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems for reducing NOx emissions and has more than 20 years experience in designing, fabricating and installing emissions control systems for gas turbines, boilers and process heaters. It has installed SCR and CO systems on more than 4,000 MW of power generation and process equipment.

Gary Hessenauer, Business General Manager for SEC's Gas Turbine & Industrial Boiler Market Segment, said, "Johnson Matthey is recognized globally as a technology leader in both emissions control catalysts and engineered systems to reduce emissions from a variety of sources. Having ISO 9001: 2008 certification further enhances our capability to meet our customers' requirements."

ISO 9001: 2008 is an international standard for quality commitment, recognized throughout the world for establishing a business management system. ISO 9001: 2008 is applicable to any manufacturing and service organization and provides a focus on system performance and ongoing improvement

Created by the International Organization for Standardization, ISO 9001: 2008 is based on eight quality management principles: customer focus, leadership, involvement of people, process approach, and system approach to management, continual improvement, fact-based decision-making and mutually beneficial supplier relationships.
