J8 Summit Goes Interactive with Promethean Technology

LONDON, June 22/ / -- Promethean, a global leader in the provision of interactive learning and assessment tools, is helping young people to have their say on political issues by collaborating in this years J8 summit. Taking place this July in St. Petersburg the J8 summit is a Morgan Stanley International Federation, initiative. Promethean will also be working alongside UNICEF and the Russian Ministry of Education and Science
The J8 summit, involving schools from across the G8 countries, will see young people participating in a Junior G8 style forum. The group, selected through a competition and including young people selected by UNICEF, will discuss similar topics to those being debated at the G8 summit, as well as other global issues of interest to young people.
Promethean are donating interactive whiteboards and integrated Activote technology to each of the winning schools. Activote will enable them to achieve greater interactivity giving them the ability to vote on the issues raised. The results will then be collated to form the basis of a communique© which the students will be presenting to President Putin and other G8 leaders at the St Petersburg meeting later that week. The technology will help to provide an insight into the perceptions young people have on topics deemed to be of global significance such as energy, education and poverty.
