IREC Elects Two Board Members and Officers for 2019

IREC Announces New Board Members and Officers
Latham, NY – The Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) today announced the election of two new members to its board of directors, as well as the full slate of officers for 2019.
Joining IREC's board of directors are Ronny Sandoval, of the Environmental Defense Fund, and Jetta Wong, an energy policy consultant and former director of the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Technology Transitions.

"They both bring enormous talent, insight and dedication to clean energy and are committed to helping IREC carry out our mission as an independent, national not-for-profit organization accelerating the clean energy transformation through fact-based policy leadership, quality workforce development and consumer empowerment.”
At the Environmental Defense Fund, Ronny Sandoval is senior director for EDF’s national grid modernization efforts. They aim to drive investments to increase the efficiency of the electric system and enable the integration of renewables and other emerging sources of energy. He works with a variety of stakeholders, including national and regional organizations, to maximize opportunities for clean energy adoption. Before joining EDF, as part of Con Edison’s Energy Efficiency and Demand Management Department, Sandoval managed efforts to increase energy efficiency and reduce peak electricity use in capacity-constrained areas of the electric grid.
Jetta Wong works as a consultant developing policies that support energy and environment technologies. She advises entrepreneurs, funders, investors, research and development institutions, and governmental organizations on how to bring new energy technologies to the market. One of her main clients is the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator. Previously, Wong established the Office of Technology Transitions for the U.S. Department of Energy and served as its first director. She also co-chaired the White House National Science and Technology Council’s Lab-to-Market Initiative, focused on creating economic impact from federal-funded research and development. Before joining the DOE, Wong worked for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space and Technology. Her career in energy started in Uzbekistan, where she was a natural resources consultant.
