Intersections to Discuss Data Breach Remediation at the Online Trust Alliance's Annual Conference in Washington, D.C.

CHANTILLY, Va., Sept. 14 -- Intersections Inc. (NASDAQ: INTX), a leading provider of consumer and corporate identity risk management services that has protected over 30 million consumers, today announced that Chris Shenefelt, Executive Vice President, Global Operations, will present at the 5th Annual Online Trust & Cybersecurity Forum hosted by the Online Trust Alliance. The Forum will be held in Washington, DC at Georgetown University from September 22-24 . Intersections is represented on the Board of Directors and will serve as a gold sponsor of this year's event.

The Online Trust & Cybersecurity Forum is an annual conference that provides a forum for e-commerce companies, government agencies, financial institutions, and marketers to connect with one another to learn how to enhance consumer protection while safeguarding their brands from emerging threats. The Forum uses keynotes, speaking sessions, breakout sessions, and a training academy to help attendees better understand the latest techniques, evolving issues in security, privacy and data governance, and best practices for aligning business and marketing goals with technical solutions.

"I am excited to participate in the panel discussion at this year's Forum and share insight with the audience about the impact data breaches and subsequent identity theft can have on consumer trust," said Shenefelt. "Despite increased security prevention investments and employee training, incidents of data loss are increasing. My presentation will focus on this growing trend and the steps businesses can take to protect consumers and their brands by reviewing elements of an effective data breach plan."

On Friday, September 24th at 1:00 p.m. ET, Shenefelt will present during the session, "Data Breach & ID Theft: Detection & Remediation," with Anne Wallace, President of ITAC, the Identity Theft Assistance Center, and Christopher Wolf, Partner of the Privacy & Information Management Practice at Hogan Lovells. The session will also examine the role consumers have in the chain of trust and steps they can take to protect their identity.

"The Online Trust & Cybersecurity Forum focuses on issues related to consumer trust. At Intersections, one of our main goals is to reassure consumers that it is okay to place their trust in the companies and institutions they work with on a daily basis. We aim to arm all consumers with the tools they need to ensure their safety online, in stores, and wherever their personal information is exchanged or exposed," said Michael Stanfield, CEO and founder of Intersections Inc. "Our organization is pleased to participate in this year's Forum and to continue working with the Online Trust Alliance on other important consumer trust and protection issues."
