Ingres Joins The Eclipse Foundation

Slough, United Kingdom, 24th July 2007 - Ingres Corporation, the leading Business Open Source software company, today announced it has become a member of the Eclipse Foundation. The Eclipse Foundation is an open source, not-for-profit member-supported corporation that helps cultivate both an Open Source community and an ecosystem of complementary products
and services.

According to Emma McGrattan, Ingres senior vice president of engineering, "Ingres has a large application development community using a variety of application development languages across a host of operating system platforms. Eclipse encompasses the diverse needs of Ingres developers by providing an Integrated Development Environment (IDE), a rich and robust development and debugging platform for building the most sophisticated enterprise applications." McGrattan continued, "The Eclipse project has a large community of very talented application developers enhancing the IDE, and with the plug-in architecture and ease of extensibility, developers are only limited by their imagination. We are excited that our application to join the Eclipse Foundation was accepted and look forward to becoming active participants in the community."

According to Mike Milinkovich, executive director of the Eclipse Foundation, "For the Eclipse Foundation and Ingres, the timing and the match couldn't be better and we're excited to welcome Ingres to the community. Ingres' future contributions to the Eclipse ecosystem will be well received as we continue to support the needs of ecosystem members and meet our release schedule. We look forward to working closely together with Ingres."
