Industrial Dynamics- Leading the Evolution of Inspection Technology for 50 Years

This year marks the 50-year anniversary of Industrial Dynamics, and it has proven to be the most successful year for the Filtec brand. Whereas a recent study found that only 19% of companies are looking to hire in the upcoming year, an enormous "Hiring" sign even hangs on the outside of the company's headquarters and production facilities in Torrance, CA- a rare sight in the current economy.

IDC Omnivision II, FT-50 inspection machines, and Lasetec laser coders are products of choice for the food and beverage packaging industries. The company's mission is simple in its theory and complex in its application: to ensure its customers' products and packaging are safe for their customers.

The company is proud of its 50 years of innovation marketed under the Filtec moniker, like the first Empty Bottle Inspector, the first Optical Fill-Level Inspector and first Americium 241 Fill Level Inspector. The SpectroVision is the latest advancement. Introduced in 2004, it uses up to four high resolution cameras to inspect up to 2,000 bottles per minute, checking for correct label placement, bottle caps, fill-level, and foreign objects. No other machine can perform all of these functions as efficiently as the SpectroVision.

Industrial Dynamics attributes its success to the fact that Filtec equipment has withstood the test of time. Filtec equipment installed 30 or 40 years ago performs as well as the day it was commissioned. Conscious of their responsibility to the planet, IDC engineers design all new product advancements using single platform technology so that they can be installed on any Filtec machine, no matter how old. This green approach allows customers to periodically upgrade their Filtec machines to add the latest inspection and reporting features. This forward thinking is particularly appreciated by the company's multinational clients who have tens of thousands of Filtec machines installed worldwide. Several large customers including Modello have already instituted programs to upgrade all of their machines worldwide.

Because Industrial Dynamic's products have proven to be so reliable, other companies have taken advantage by reselling used Filtec used equipment. Noticing this, the company started its "Certified Pre-Owned" division, providing customers with certified used equipment that is configured to the customer's exact requirements and include a one year warranty.

CEO, Steve Calhoun, has called for the largest R&D budget in the company's history to work on products to address customer concern that glass particles from new glass containers could cause injury to customers. The company believes that its soon to be released Filtec new glass inspector and Filtec full container inspector will be well received solutions to this concern. Growing international markets in India and China also add to the prospect for a prosperous future. The company expects record sales again in 2009.

For 50 years now, IDC has created industry firsts, and held true to its mission of providing reliable equipment that delivers uniform, and most importantly, safe containers to consumers.
