In Response to Customer Demand, CHEP Is Expanding Its Commercial Network into Slovenia

LJUBLJANA, SLOVENIA - October 24, 2006 - CHEP announced today the expansion of its commercial network in Europe and will now be offering its services in Slovenia. In response to customer demand, CHEP has analysed this new market and has put in place the required infrastructure to support a range of distributors who have indicated their intention to use CHEP pooled pallets and containers. Several major European manufacturers and producers have also agreed to use CHEP pallets and containers for exports into Slovenia.

With a population of 2 million and following a period of transition, Slovenia is now a model of economic progress. The country has been a member of the European Union since 2004 and has an excellent infrastructure and skilled labour force. Slovenia is a major importer of fruits and vegetables and in 2005 it imported over 98,000 tonnes with a value near 55 million. Importantly, 43% of this produce originated from Italy with a further 13% from the Netherlands and 7% from Spain.

"We are very pleased to be expanding our network to support our customers' activities across Europe" said Miguel D'Cotta, President, CHEP Europe. "CHEP continues to strive to deliver a quality service to all our customers to ensure we consistently deliver high levels of customer satisfaction and, in the process, enhance customer loyalty."

Luca Rossi, Director, New Business, Southern and Eastern Europe commented, "I am delighted that from now on a large portion of the goods shipped into Slovenia will be delivered into distributors on CHEP equipment. I have no doubt that this will yield significant economic benefits for the entire supply chain, in terms of cost reductions and increased efficiencies."
