Immediate Response Technologies, Inc. (IRT) is an ISO 9001-2008 certified, U.S. manufacturer, and NIOSH approval holder of 25 active approvals for air purifying respirators (APR) and powered air purify respirator (PAPR) systems. IRT, located in Glenn Dale, Maryland, manufactures a full line of APR and PAPR style respirators to include an automated assembly line for filters and multi-gas canisters and cartridge that are manufactured on site. IRT products are purchased by military, first responder, first receiver, and law enforcement to provide respiratory protection against hazardous particulate and vapor environments.
IRT respiratory products are approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health as mandated by 42 CFR Part 84, which establishes the minimum requirements for determining the effectiveness of respirators used during entry into or escape from hazardous atmospheres.
IRT's most recent NIOSH approval included the M96 Cartridge, which provides a combination of particulate and vapor protection. The M96 Cartridge is approved as part of a complete respirator system for both P100 and HE particulate filter applications and provides protection against 13 gases/vapors to include ammonia, chlorine, chlorine dioxide, formaldehyde, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen fluoride, hydrogen sulfide, methylamine, organic vapor, phosphine, sulfur dioxide, CS tear gas and CN tear gas. Approved respirator systems include APR with Promask 2000 and M95 tight-fitting full face pieces, C420 PAPR with Promask 2000 and M95 tight-fitting full face pieces, and FlexAir PAPR with a variety of loose-fitting hoods. The M96 Cartridge has also been tested to be effective against various warfare gases and vapors.
IRT has also just recently successfully completed the process of updating all approvals to reflect company name and location changes as a result of the merger that occurred in December 2009. This effort included the update of documentation for all respiratory product lines and culminated with the validation testing of our respirator systems (including APR and PAPR systems using the M96Cartridge) by NIOSH.
