IDI Receives ISO 14001:2004 Certification
NOBLESVILLE, INDIANA (USA) - IDI Composites International (IDI), the premier global formulator and manufacturer of thermoset molding compounds, has recently received ISO 14001:2004 certification from the International Standards Organization. This certification, also known as the Environmental Management System (EMS), reflects IDI's deep-rooted environmental practices and is indicative of the company's intention to provide its customers with the highest quality thermoset composite material in an environmentally responsible fashion.
In addition to the company's long-standing recycling and environmental conservation programs, IDI has committed itself to several new environmental objectives, implementing a variety of new measures to limit the company's impact on the environment. The company has increased employee training and awareness in areas such as spill prevention training and weather emergency preparation, and has also reinforced their resin storage tanks, protecting them from tampering and preventing contamination of local storm drains.
Another aspect of IDI's environmental management program - the recycling of corrugated cardboard, soda cans and bottles, and electronic equipment (such as obsolete computers) - has significantly reduced the company's solid waste disposal. An average of 20,000 pounds of corrugated cardboard are recycled each month, and cans and bottles are collected and donated to a local senior citizens center, whose seniors then take advantage of the redemption value. Electronic equipment is either given to employees or recycled.
IDI has received ISO 14001:2004 certification for their Noblesville, Indiana production facility, as well as their Aguirre, Puerto Rico production facility. The company's West Midlands, U.K. facility is next on the list, to be followed by their facilities in China.
