ICSA Labs Expands Industry Leadership through IPsec IKEv2 Product Certification Testing

Company Uniquely Positioned To Drive Industry-Wide VPN Interoperability Improvements and Product Development

MECHANICSBURG, Pa., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- ICSA Labs(R), an independent division of global information security specialist Cybertrust(R), today announced that it has begun accepting products based on Internet Key Exchange Version 2 (IKEv2) Technology for testing as part of its IPsec 2.0 Certification program. The IKEv2 Technology Standards were approved by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) in December 2005, which define and facilitate the interoperability of IPsec virtual private networks (VPNs), allowing secure communications channels to be set up across potentially insecure infrastructures.

As the security industry's central authority for research, intelligence and certification testing of security products, ICSA Labs is eminently qualified to test security solutions based on the IKEv2 standards. ICSA Labs hosted two IKEv2 Interoperability Workshops in 2005, where vendors debuted and tested products based on IKEv2 with industry peers. With more than 15 vendors participating in the Workshops and 18 products based on IKEv2 standards enrolled to date, ICSA Labs' interoperability events have emerged as a valuable resource toward certifying vendor solutions that deliver the functionality, interoperability and security that companies demand from today's IPsec VPN security products. Vendors who participated in past events are now closer to achieving compliance with IKEv2 standards and as such, will experience an expedited time to market.

"By providing a forum for intelligence sharing among the leading vendors of VPN security products, ICSA Labs has long been on the cutting edge of testing products and setting standards for information security products," said George Japak, vice president of ICSA Labs. "As the only security product testing lab currently testing IKEv2 products, ICSA Labs will help drive compliance and reliability of IPsec VPN products."

"ICSA Labs' IPsec 2.0 Certification program ensures standards compliance and multi-vendor interoperability for vendors who upgrade their VPN products to the latest version of IPsec," said Doug Makishima, vice president of marketing at Intoto. "As Intoto's IKEv2 software solutions demonstrated solid compliance, interoperability and feature richness during the workshops leading up to the final ICSA certification program, our OEM customers will gain a quick path to a robust IKEv2 implementation or upgrade."
