IBM Grows Market Share in Worldwide Disk Storage


IBM Is the Fastest Growing of the Top Four Disk Storage Vendors for the Second Quarter of 2007

ARMONK, NY - 07 Sep 2007: IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that for the top four market share owners for total disk storage in the second quarter 2007, IBM was the fastest growing vendor for the quarter, capturing 19.25% of the total disk storage market, growing its market share 5.5% compared to the first quarter 2007 (1).

The results were based on the report "IDC Worldwide Quarterly Disk Storage Systems Tracker" for the second quarter of 2007, where IDC stated that the total disk storage market was a $6.1 billion market.

"If you take a snapshot of the total disk storage industry for the second quarter, the numbers show that IBM was the clear growth leader comparing the top four vendors from the first quarter to the second quarter of 2007," said Barry Rudolph, Vice President, IBM System Storage Disk Solutions. According to IDC, IBM was the number one supplier of storage hardware from a combined worldwide revenue disk and tape perspective in 2006 (2).
