Hydraulic Institute Announces "Member Of The Year" Award

TRYGVE DAHL OF INTELLIQUIP RECEIVES HONOR

Parsippany, NJ -- The Hydraulic Institute has named Trygve Dahl, Vice President, Technology, Intelliquip, as its 2010 "Member of the Year." The award was conferred on Mr. Dahl at Hydraulic Institute's 94th Annual Meeting gala which recently took place in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The HI Board of Directors selected Mr. Dahl for distinguishing himself for the level and intensity of his involvement with the Hydraulic Institute, advancing the technical work of the Hydraulic Institute and the pump industry, particularly in the transformative arena of electronic data exchange. His nomination has the enthusiastic support of his boss and partner, Dave Brockway, President of Intelliquip.

Trygve began his career as a design engineer with Ingersoll Rand Company in 1983. Trygve also served as Director of Technology at Ingersoll-Dresser Pump where he was responsible for Corporate R&D and the Engineering Systems. In the early 1990's, Dahl chartered new territory in the pump industry by leading mechanical and software engineers in the development of PROS+, one of the worlds most powerful and advanced software solutions for pump selection and configuration.

Dahl has been active in HI for 10 years and has supported a number of HI and Pump Systems Matter committees including: Viscosity Correction, Optimizing Pumping Systems Guidebook, the Rotary Pump Section and the Associate Council.

Over the past 8 years as a representative of Intelliquip, Trygve has been particularly active with the HI-Electronic Data Exchange (EDE) committee. As chairman he has navigated extremely complicated issues and successfully negotiated with the FIATECH organization on the AEX project, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the American Petroleum Institute (API), the ASME and Process Industry Practices (PIP) groups of various end-users in delivering HI's first standard in this domain. Today, API, ASME, and PIP reference HI's recently published EDE standard as the official HI pump data sheet which is a tremendous accomplishment as standards of these organizations support HI's EDE approach to pump procurement. He has also spent many hours preparing for and conducting meetings, teleconferences, and WebEx meetings and briefings for HI members while moving the standard development process along.

Today, as Intelliquip's VP of Technology, Dahl leads the development, implementation and management of the company's software solutions. He has won many awards, including the Ingersoll-Rand Patent Excellence Award, and authored over a dozen technical papers. he co-wrote "Electronic Data Exchange in the Pump Industry" printed in the 2007 Proceedings of the Twenty-Third International Symposium and a chapter on "Selecting and Purchasing Pumps" published in the Pump Handbook and also contributed to the HI and Pump Systems Matter publication on "Optimizing Pumping Systems".

According to Gregg Romanyshyn, HI Technical Director, "Trygve Dahl has made significant contributions to the Institute, and possesses all of the qualities that we expect and respect in an HI Member of the Year. He has displayed competent technical leadership as chair of the HI-Electronic Data Exchange Committee, taking the extra time needed to help guide the committee and co-ordinate with other organizations to ensure the advancement of Phase I of the HI-EDE Standard to completion. His participation on other committees is most welcome as he provides exceptional technical insight and a willingness to step-forward to tackle difficult issues."

Mr. Dahl holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude), an M.S. in Manufacturing Systems Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, all from Lehigh University. He is currently a Professional Engineer in the state of New Jersey, a member of the American Society for Mechanical Engineers, and a Six Sigma "Green Belt". He is the Chairman of the Electronic Data Exchange (EDE) Committee within the Hydraulic Institute, and active with the American Petroleum Institute and the AEX/FIATECH project.

Dave Brockway, President of Intelliquip, describes Dahl stating that, "Trygve is a truly unique individual in all the good ways possible. Whether it is business related or personal, Trygve always is able to find time to help", adding that, "he is the most selfless individual I know and is always willing to pitch in".
