Humantech Cited as a Winning Supplier in 2009 Medical Design Excellence Awards

Ann Arbor, MICH - Humantech, Inc., a leading ergonomics consulting firm, announced that it is a named supplier for a 2009 Medical Design Excellence Award winning product. NuStep's T5XR Recumbent Cross Trainer was launched in September 2008 after a four-year collaborative effort that drew on the expertise of ergonomic specialists, exercise physiologists, and the input of their customers.

Humantech vice president Josh Kerst, CPE, led Humantech's involvement with the design and development of the T5XR Recumbent Cross Trainer. He says "The work we did with NuStep's design team validated the important role ergonomics can play in responding to the needs of the medical and healthcare communities and ultimately the patients that they serve." He adds "We are pleased to have played a role in making the T5XR Recumbent Cross Trainer a winner and to be honored alongside NuStep."

The Medical Design Excellence Awards competition is organized and presented by Canon Communications LLC (Los Angeles) and is the only awards program that exclusively recognizes contributions and advancements in the design of medical products. Entries are evaluated on the basis of their design and engineering features, including innovative use of materials, user-related functions that improve healthcare delivery and change traditional medical attitudes or practices, features that provide enhanced benefits to the patient, and the ability of the product development team to overcome design and engineering challenges so that the product meets it clinical objectives.

A comprehensive review of the entries was performed by an impartial, multidisciplinary panel of third-party jurors with expertise in biomedical engineering, human factors, industrial design, medicine and diagnostics.

The 2009 Medical Design Excellence Award winners will be honored at a ceremony during the Medical Design & Engineering (MD&M) East Conference and Exposition, June 9-11, 2009 at New York City's Jacob Javits Convention Center. Gold and silver award recipients will be announced at this time.
