HK Metalcraft Manufacturing Corp. Awarded SHARP (OSHA ) Award by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development
On Thursday, May 7, 2009, HK Metalcraft Manufacturing Corp. of Lodi, NJ will be awarded the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) SHARP award by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. The SHARP (Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program) award recognizes small business employers who demonstrate exemplary achievements in workplace safety and health.
Maria Montesino, the State SHARP Coordinator, congratulated HK for its efforts and those of their employees which "are indicative of the cooperation between management and labor that promotes and enhances a safe and healthy workplace".
HK Metalcraft manufactures high-quality precision metal stampings, spring washers, formed products and related assemblies for all industries worldwide.
HK Metalcraft is privately held and was incorporated in 1926. The Hopp family continues its third generation of leadership with its President, Raymond Hopp. The company is headquartered in Lodi, NJ, with 50,000 square feet of office, manufacturing, and warehouse space. Approximately 35,000 square feet is used for manufacturing processes, raw and finished goods inventory and shipping and receiving functions. About 6,000 square feet is devoted to the tool room, where dies are built and repaired, and to maintenance functions. Another 9,000 square feet is dedicated to engineering, sales and marketing, and administrative functions.
To create the most productive, profitable and globally competitive work environment, HK has participated in the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program (NJMEP).
HK trained it's employees in the concepts of Lean Manufacturing and The 5-S Program in order to enable them to produce parts using fewer resources in a more organized environment.
