Hands-On Hands-Off Training

Bruel and Kjaer UK launches theory and practical 2011 courses

UK - December 2010 - Sound and vibration instrumentation expert, Bruel & Kjaer UK has launched its 2011 training calendar offering a range of theoretical and practical courses.

The updated course listing includes Theory and Practice of Noise Measurement - a two day session providing a thorough grounding for those new to the field of acoustic measurements.

The course is recommended for all users of sound level meters and spectrum analysis equipment such as 1/3-Octave Analysers, who wish to acquire a good basic understanding of acoustic and measurement principles, for a variety of applications, including noise abatement, product labeling and building acoustics. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to perform a range of noise measurements and correct set-up of measuring instruments and assessing of noise reports.

Engineers and consultants who use vibration meters or analysis systems will benefit from attending the Theory and Practice of Vibration Measurement course - running in September, which covers the correct selection and mounting of accelerometers, in a wide variety of industrial, research and R&D applications.

This course also gives a non-mathematical description of signal types, filters, frequency and amplitude scales, RMS detection and averaging. It also gives a brief introduction to digital signal analysis covering sampling and anti-aliasing and includes descriptions of FFT and Digital Filter analysers.

For those involved in vibration testing the Vibration Testing for Engineers and Technicians course provides a practical introduction, explaining how to interpret vibration test specifications and apply them to a vibration test system. This course is designed for engineers new to vibration testing, but also serves as a useful refresher course for the more experienced user.

The company's contract-owning customers can also receive a 10% discount, which is applicable for anyone with a current M1 and multi-year (3 to 5 years) contract, registering for any course throughout the year.
