Hand Held Products Opens European Customer Application Centre

Hand Held Products, the global leader in image-based linear and 2D data
collection solutions, has opened a Customer Application Centre at its
European headquarters in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
The new customer application centre enables the Hand Held Products
engineers to perform tests in an environment similar to that of the customer.
This way issues can be solved more quickly and with greater accuracy. The
centre provides controlled conditions - for example, the temperature and
lighting can be adjusted to reflect the conditions at the customer site.
The centre includes a controlled test lab as well as specific testing and
demonstration facilities for all target industries. These include a counter
with scanning facilities, storage racks (as used in retail), a small
reconstruction of a warehouse facility, the rear doorframe of a courier
service truck and an assembly line for scanning moving objects. It also
features a demo room with a turnstile as used at events and entrances of
cinemas, museums, etc.
"The customer application centre will help us speed up problem solving,
but it works in more ways than one", said Roel Vreeburg, Hand Held Products'
senior vice president international sales, marketing and services for Europe
& Asia. "It also helps demonstrate to customers how imaging technology can
change the way they do business. The turnstile demo room is a good example -
more and more cinemas, exhibitions and the likes, sell tickets online. People
can then print off the barcode ticket and scan it when they pass the turnpike
at the entrance. In the near future it will also be possible to order tickets
via your mobile, and just have the image displayed in your screen scanned to
enter. This new centre helps us demonstrate the many future possibilities to
partners and customers."
