Glassworks Installs Dual-Link Capabilities with New Tektronix WVR7120 Waveform Rasterizer

Powerful Dual-Link Monitoring Platform Designed to Quickly Detect, Isolate, and Diagnose Multi-format Video Quality Problems

BEAVERTON, Ore., August 20 /- Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE: TEK), a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring solutions, announced that London's "Glassworks," one of the largest visual effects and computer animation studios in Europe, has installed dual-link capabilities in its telecine suite to transfer motion picture film into electronic form using the Tektronix's WVR7120 waveform rasterizer.

The ever-accelerating need for the transfer of high resolution content into digital formats has meant that dual-link capabilities are increasingly a necessity in production and post-production applications to ensure the highest levels of HD quality across the broadest range of formats.

Richard Underwood, Chief Engineer, Glassworks, said, "A major part of the operation of our Spirit 2K Datacine suite is SD/HD color grading. We now have a great deal of dual-link work going through the suite and a waveform rasterizer that has dual-link capabilities is a tremendous advantage for the operator in terms of the ability to monitor detailed video signal leads. It also removes a great deal of stress from the process because of its intuitive display. We saw the WVR7120 at NAB 2007 and knew it was what we needed to support 4:4:4 12-bit RGB professional video market needs."

The WVR7120 is the flagship of Tektronix's enhanced range of rasterizers and employs the most powerful dual-link monitoring capability compliant with SMPTE 372M. Running on a new platform, the WVR7120 provides an enhanced See and Solve(TM) user interface and menu structure, therefore reducing training requirements for engineers and operators. Ideal for multi-format environments, these rasterizers also feature advanced monitoring and measurement tools such as CaptureVu(TM) video frame capture, powerful error reporting, and the industry's most advanced timing, alignment, and jitter measurements.

"Glassworks is one of the industry's most technology-rich and creatively savvy facilities," said Arif Kareem, Vice President, Video Products, Tektronix. "The dual-link capability of the WVR7120 is just one of the many advantages they will now be able to bring to the video editing process, and to their clients."
