Geomagic Named Technology of the Year by Council for Entrepreneurial Development at 2006 Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards


(Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA: June 22, 2006) Geomagic®, a worldwide software and services firm, has been awarded Technology of the Year by the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED).

The honor, presented at CED's annual 2006 Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards, held last night in Durham, North Carolina, recognized Geomagic technology leadership in the field of digital shape sampling and processing (DSSP), which is the technology used for ensuring the safe return of the NASA STS-114 Discovery "Return to Flight" mission, digital reconstruction of the Statue of Liberty in New York harbor, and helping manufacturing companies move from mass production to mass customization.

Accepting the award on behalf of all Geomagic employees, Ping Fu, CEO and co-founder said, "As a technology company, I am proud of our innovative technical team, and it is an honor our company will treasure. I thank CED for recognizing our people's contribution to the technology world."

This is the latest in a series of recognitions the company has received, including National Entrepreneurial Company of the Year by Frost & Sullivan, and Mid-Size Company of the Year by the North Carolina Technology Association. Ping Fu was also named Entrepreneur of the Year for 2005 by Inc. Magazine.
