Gear Motions' Nixon Gear Division Hosts Syracuse P-TECH Students
Gear Motions recently hosted a group of students from Syracuse Pathways to Technology (P-TECH) at our Nixon Gear Division. The group consisted of about 25 high school sophomores who have all completed their OSHA 10 hour Safety Training. During their visit, they met with our Safety Committee and received a tour of the manufacturing floor to see and hear about the safety measures, procedures, and practices that are in place.
Syracuse P-TECH is a collaborative partnership between the Syracuse City School District (SCSD), Onondaga Community College (OCC), and the Manufacturer's Association of Central New York (MACNY). This specialized high school offers students the opportunity to participate in a cohesive five or six-year program which combines high school, college and career training.
Gear Motions has been hosting P-TECH students since the onset of the program, participating in several work-based learning experiences including mentoring and job shadowing days. We are proud to work with P-TECH to help educate students who have an interest in manufacturing and engineering.
