GE Security Pro Launches Security Is A Family Matter Campaign

The network of Security Pro® Dealers has launched "Security Is A Family Matter(TM)," a sales, marketing and brand ID campaign with the goal of increasing security in homes and communities by strengthening families. At the heart of the campaign is the alliance between GE Security Pro and Meld, a non-profit agency whose mission is to help parents raise nurtured, competent children. This is the first alliance of its kind in the security industry with the goal of reducing child abuse and other root causes of criminal behavior.

"We know our security systems are effective in saving lives and property, but security doesn't start with technology," said GE Security Pro Vice President Michael Benedict. "Security starts in strong families and spreads out to the community from there. We're partnering with businesses and agencies that can help us promote that message and create that reality."

Parent education and support are a key part of the GE Security Pro campaign. For example, the Security Is A Family Matter Web site at www.securityisafamilymatter.com includes excerpts from Meld's Hands On Help series of practical tips for parents. Topics include how to avoid mealtime madness, the benefits of visitation for parents and kids, helping kids learn responsibility, TV watching guidelines, plus several other topics. GE Security Pro support of Meld includes security system donations and financial support to promote Meld's programs.

"This is who we are and how we need to be perceived by our clients, prospects and the general public- safety community," said Jeff Johnson, owner of MacGuard Security in Los Angeles. "The GE Security Pro program and the 'Security Is A Family Matter' campaign truly separate us from the competition. When we offer our clients more than just physical security, we have elevated our companies to a new level and become a resource for the client for all their security. I come from the law enforcement arena and have never seen a campaign that has more to offer parents, educators and the public safety community than what GE Security Pro offers. We are incorporating the entire concept into our business strategy."

The program has been out in beta test for 6 weeks. The responses in all markets are extremely favorable, and the campaign has proven to have a positive effect on the bottom line. Frank Potozcak of Secure Technologies, Inc. in Pennsylvania has documented a 10% increase in his closing ratio as a result of the new campaign.
