Fujitsu Announces Qualification of fi-5900C, fi-5530C, fi-5120C & fi-5220C Document Scanners with the EMC Captiva Software Suite

SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 26 // -- Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today announced that EMC Corporation, the world leader in information management and storage, has qualified the new Fujitsu fi-5900C, fi-5530C, fi-5120C and fi-5220C document scanners. After running an extensive assessment, including ISIS® certification, EMC verified the products exceed all requirements to interoperate with the EMC Captiva input management product suite, including the InputAccel document capture platform.

"EMC is committed to delivering the most valuable and innovative input management solutions to our customers and resellers," said Wayne Ford, vice president, Captiva Strategic Alliances and Channel Development, EMC Software Group. "This certification illustrates our ongoing dedication to ensuring that the Captiva software suite works seamlessly with these new Fujitsu document scanners to provide world-class content management capabilities for our joint customers."

EMC Captiva input management solutions transform business-critical information from paper, fax and electronic data sources into business-ready content suitable for processing by enterprise applications. Used with Fujitsu scanners, Captiva solutions automate the processing of billions of documents annually by quickly and accurately converting their contents into electronic information usable in enterprise content management (ECM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM) systems and other databases. Converting paper documents into business-ready electronic content enables users to accelerate business processes, reduce operational costs, improve data accuracy, increase compliance and facilitate access to information.

"We're happy to announce that EMC has tested and qualified these new scanners with the EMC Captiva software suite of products," said Tom Loeffler, director, business development, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. "The ongoing support from our partners to make sure Fujitsu document imaging scanners have been tested and qualified with their application software ensures a higher level of integration and quicker implementation. We take pride in jointly working with an industry leader such as EMC and providing customers the added benefit of knowing they are receiving the most powerful, optimized solution for their organization."

The Fujitsu fi-5900C scanner offers best-of-breed technology and has been tailored specifically for high volume applications. A combination of fast scan speeds, outstanding paper handling, high-speed USB 2.0, Ultra Wide SCSI and three ultrasonic double-feed sensors make this the ideal scanner to quickly and efficiently transform piles of paperwork into usable electronic data. The scanner is well suited for demanding environments such as service bureaus, backfile conversions and many other paper-intensive industries by delivering a daily duty cycle of up to 100,000 sheets and consumable life of up to 600,000 sheets.

The Fujitsu fi-5530C scanner is the fastest departmental landscape scanner on the market and continues the Fujitsu legacy of offering decentralized, high quality image capture to the desktop at a highly competitive price. The Fujitsu fi-5530C boasts speeds of up to 47 ppm (simplex) / 94 ipm (duplex) so that it can quickly and efficiently transform paper documents into manageable digital files. The scanner also offers true 600dpi optical resolution, a 100-page automatic document feeder (ADF) and dual-CCD scanning arrays to consistently capture fine details in color and monochrome.

The Fujitsu fi-5120C and Fujitsu fi-5220C (flatbed model) color, duplex workgroup scanners build on the strengths of the Fujitsu fi-4120C2 and fi-4220C2, two of the best-selling workgroup scanners on the market. The introduction of ultrasonic double-feed detection on these scanners ensures all documents in a batch are properly scanned by automatically detecting when two pages are simultaneously fed through the scanner. Additionally, embossed card scanning allows easy information capture of credit cards and other raised letter plastic identification through the automatic document feeder. Fast scanning speeds of 24 ppm / 45 ipm at 300dpi monochrome and grayscale, and 24 ppm / 24 ipm at 300dpi full color allow users to quickly create searchable PDFs. The Fujitsu fi-5120C and fi-5220C, due to their fast scanning speeds and embossed card functionality, are particularity apt to address needs of the healthcare, financial services/banking and retail industries.
