First Combined Fabtech International & Aws Welding Show Comes To Mccormick Place In Chicago


DEARBORN, Mich, August 26, 2005 - From November 13 - 16, McCormick Place in Chicago, Ill., will host the 2005 FABTECH International & AWS Welding Show, North America's largest metal forming, fabricating and welding event. This new combined show is co-sponsored by the American Welding Society (AWS), Fabricators and Manufacturers Association (FMA), and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). The event is expected to attract over 20,000 manufacturers from more than 50 countries and nearly 800 exhibiting companies for four days of buying, selling, networking, and professional development.

The FABTECH International & AWS Welding Show offers a "one-stop-shop" for all metalworking, forming, fabricating, tube & pipe, and welding & cutting technologies. The value-added flow of sheet, plate, and tube metal utilized in many manufacturing plants (cutting, bending, punching, and joining) will be displayed on the show floor. Over 90 exhibitors will feature equipment and technology for lasers and laser-related applications. The event will also offer two comprehensive technical conferences, an Executive Forum, free business seminars, and a new show floor innovation and technology theater.

Representatives from major industries, including aerospace, agriculture, appliance, and automotive OEMs and their suppliers, heavy equipment, medical equipment, military and defense, recreational equipment, and non-automotive transportation, attend this show to see demonstrations of more than 2,000 products and gather ideas and information to make their companies more productive and profitable.

The FABTECH International & AWS Welding Show will offer two independent professional conferences and educational programs led by industry experts.

The American Welding Society technical programming will feature new developments for welding and allied processes, including brazing, soldering, thermal spraying, adhesive bonding and testing, and inspection of joints made by these processes. The FABTECH Conference will offer 35 sessions (12 new this year) focused on the latest developments in management/operations, cutting, lasers, fabrication/forming, materials/processes, stamping, and tube & pipe.

The American Welding Society and the AWS Technical Papers Committee present sessions show-casing welding research and new commercial developments. These sessions will offer the most up-to-date information on processes, materials, consumables, automation, design, testing, and modeling.

o 2nd Annual Professional Welders Competition: November 14-16, 2005
This timed competition invites welders proficient in using FCAW-G outdoors on steels, welders in construction, pipeline and manufacturing industries, and practitioners of skilled trade in the construction or heavy-equipment industries-union and non-union alike.
