Firetide Partners With EDX Wireless for Municipal Wireless Mesh Solutions

Partnership Provides Comprehensive Software Tools for Planning and Deploying Large Scale Mesh Networks

LOS GATOS, Calif., Jan. 10 -- Firetide, Inc., a leader in wireless mesh networking, today announced a strategic partnership with EDX Wireless, to provide customers with full featured software tools for planning and deploying municipal wireless mesh networks.

EDX Wireless, a developer of software for planning commercial and municipal wireless networks, has taken the step to include Firetide HotPort mesh node specifications as part of its SignalMX software, allowing network planners to include the mesh nodes as part of their overall network plan. Firetide and EDX are exploring further integration with SignalMX, including integrated data transfer to and from Firetide's HotView Pro network management platform.

"The importance of Mesh networks for providing a wireless backhaul for municipal and large scale wireless networks continues to grow," said Paul Rathgeb, CEO of EDX Wireless. "SignalMX(TM) specifically addresses the design, optimization and growth of mesh networks. We're pleased to provide tools that integrate Firetide's HotPort node information, making it easy for network designers to build the networks of tomorrow." SignalMX, to be released 1st quarter of 2006, is an add-on module to EDX®, SignalPro®, EDX's long-time, basic wireless network design and planning tool.

Firetide HotPort high performance mesh networks provide a high capacity, self-healing wireless mesh backbone for outdoor and indoor networks. The HotPort system was designed for maximum performance, scalability, and ease of use and allows standard Ethernet devices to be connected to the mesh, creating secure wireless video, voice and data networks. Firetide's HotPort network provides a high quality, low latency wireless infrastructure that replaces costly conventional backhaul wiring and supports large scale WLAN architectures.

"Our strong partnership with EDX Wireless indicates that mesh networking is becoming a standard requirement in most infrastructure networks," said Bo Larsson, CEO of Firetide. "We are very pleased that our customers now have products available to them for planning and deploying complete end-to-end network solutions."
