FileNet Extends BPM Capabilities in Exception Management

Thunderhead Partnership Enhances BPM Exception Processing for Improved Business Process Performance

COSTA MESA, Calif., Nov. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- FileNet Corporation (NASDAQ:FILE), the leading provider of Enterprise Content and Business Process Management solutions, today announced a technology integration partnership with Thunderhead, a provider of document generation technology with unique exceptions handling capabilities.

Under the ValueNet Partner agreement, Thunderhead's technology, which automates the handling of exceptions from start to finish, will be integrated with the FileNet P8 platform, enabling FileNet's BPM customers to streamline, automate and expedite processing of transactions that require special handling and customer correspondence.

Examples of these types of exceptions are transactions that cannot be driven to completion due to missing information, or transactions involving customers who are eligible for discounts or priority handling due to "premier customer" status.

Effective exceptions processing enables companies to realize improved business performance through enhanced compliance management, operational efficiency and cost control, and enhanced customer communications, which can provide companies with significant competitive advantage.

Thunderhead technology expedites exception processing by supplying templates for dynamic document generation to support customized, on-demand correspondence. FileNet P8 ensures exceptions and related contextual content are captured, staged, routed, escalated and disseminated to the appropriate personnel for processing. When incoming transaction data is outside certain set parameters, BPM schedules the document for manual editing.

Compliance and documentation managers can reduce risk by locking text and data items to eliminate the chance of unauthorized editing ensuring compliance with company policies, industry regulation and/or regional jurisdictions. Organizations can solicit examples of exception processing to quality assurance and/or support auditing to meet compliance requirements.

"Traditionally, exception processing has placed tremendous cost and resource burdens on organizations," said Martyn Christian, chief marketing officer, for FileNet. "FileNet and Thunderhead have teamed to eliminate this 'performance drag,' supporting the transition from linear, fragmented processes to collaborative, efficient, and intelligent processing environments."

"The proven combination of FileNet's business process and enterprise content management solution and Thunderhead's ability to automate all aspects of the document generation process is helping mutual customers to become more agile, responsive, customer-centric, and compliant with regulatory requirements," said Glen Manchester, CEO of Thunderhead Ltd.
