FEV, Inc. to Display Chrysler Pentastar V6 at 2011 SAE World Congress

Pentastar V6 recently named one of Ward's Ten Best Engines for 2011

Multi-platform powertrain to replace 7 current Chrysler V6 engines

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., April 5, 2011 -- FEV Inc., (FEV) a leading developer of advanced powertrain and vehicle technologies, announced today that it will exhibit the all-new 2011 Chrysler Pentastar V6 engine, which was recently named a 2011 Ten Best Engine by Ward's AutoWorld. FEV was a technical engineering partner with Chrysler in the development of the engine. The Pentastar V6 will be displayed in FEV's booth at the 2011 SAE World Congress, held April 12 - 15, 2011 at Cobo Center in Detroit. Gary Rogers, FEV, Inc. president and CEO made the announcement.

"We are extremely proud to have supported Chrysler in the development of this engine," said Rogers. "FEV was honored to have been a technical engineering partner as Chrysler designed and developed the engine. This program will allow Chrysler introduce its next generation engine across a number of vehicle platforms while saving a considerable cost."

As Chrysler replaces a number of different engines with the Pentastar over the next few years, the Pentastar will represent a model of efficiency for Chrysler. Intended to be produced in a number of variants, the highlight will be the 260 kW 3.6L version. Torque is an impressive 353 Nm @ 4800 rpm.

Engine features include:

o Bore: 96mm
o Stroke: 83mm
o Compression ratio: 10.2:1 / 87 Octane fuel
o Aluminum, deep-skirt block with aluminum alloy heads
o 24V DOHC with dual independent cam-phasing
o Sequential, multi-port fuel injection
o Tier II, bin 5 emissions

Other notable design features include exhaust manifolds integrated into the cylinder heads, a compact layout that increases packaging options, and the ability to be longitudinally or transversally mounted. The engine will be produced at Chrysler's Trenton Engine Plant and in Mexico at its Saltillo plant. It is anticipated that production volume could be in the range of 400,000.

FEV was well suited to partner with Chrysler since its core competencies lie in providing engineering solutions with respect to drivability, performance, fuel consumption, NVH, emissions and OBD for global markets. FEV offers all of the capabilities to design and develop a complete powertrain, including all required design, simulation, analysis, and prototyping resources. FEV also offers a large, global complement of powertrain testing facilities.
