Federal Police Raid Oil Company in Oil Theft Probe

Melbourne, FL., April, 2010 - Federal Police, in an unnamed Latin American Country, raided
the headquarters of a state oil monopoly in an investigation into rampant fuel theft that is
estimated to cost the company more than US $2 billion per year. Oil Company auditors, with the
help of the Federal Police, have seized computer equipment and documents belonging to the oil
company's Security Directorate.

According to an unnamed source, the investigation was triggered by a report generated by an
EMX Inc. clandestine fuel monitoring test program that monitored a particularly vulnerable
section of pipeline. As an example, the fuel monitoring program detected over 100,000 liters of
fuel that was stolen in three 20 minute sessions at one illegal tap. Overall, 396 illegal connections
to the company's fuel pipelines were identified in CY 2008. Fuel thieves take advantage of
aging pipeline networks to tap into pipes and siphon off fuel. "Oil Company officials admit they
have no clear idea how much fuel is stolen every year," said EMX CEO, Tim Arion.
