Company Seeks Partners to Increase Thin-Film Solar Cell Performance
BUFFALO, NY - ENrG Inc., a high technology firm specializing in the development and manufacture of ceramic components for clean energy, has received an award from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to explore the potential of its Thin E-Strate® flexible ceramic product in the solar energy markets.

ENrG's Thin E-Strate® product's unique physical properties may provide the thin-film PV industry with an enabling platform that can increase cell efficiency, decrease costs and expand the thin-film PV market.
NYSERDA's award, along with leveraged funding from the company and other partners, will aid in the commercialization of ENrG's new product. The company is specifically interested in connecting with thin film solar cell developers and manufacturers seeking a more efficient medium to work as a backing for solar cells than materials used currently.
Kathy Olenick, Director of Technical Applications, ENrG Inc. said, "When ceramic technologists see Thin E-Strate at our trade shows or on our video online, they question if it's really a ceramic! Yes, it is indeed an yttria-stabilized zirconia ceramic, but with some surprising properties, such as superior strength, flexibility, opportunity for higher temperature coatings and surface texturing, amongst others. The conversation then turns to how they can use these features to meet their performance and cost targets."
