Emerson Process Management And Wärtsilä Automation Norway To Form An Alliance To Deliver Integrated Automation Systems For FPSOS


Combined expertise and technology of the two world class companies will deliver efficiency and speed to FPSO projects

AUSTIN, TEXAS (May 2, 2006) -- Emerson Process Management and Wärtsilä Automation Norway have decided to form an alliance to supply total Electrical & Instrumentation systems in the Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) segment. The alliance brings together the process management knowledge and digital automation architecture of Emerson with the power and vessel automation systems expertise and products of Wärtsilä, enabling delivery of integrated systems with leading technologies from both companies.

Dedicated engineering teams of the companies will develop turn-key solutions by collaborating from front-end engineering and design (FEED) through to FPSO commissioning and operation. The delivered solutions can include diesel and dual fuel engines, generators, power distribution systems, electrical drives, thrusters, motor control centers, and safety and automation systems including metering, valves and instrumentation of the complete vessel.

Emerson is a leading global supplier of expert services and digital automation systems. Emerson´s state of the art measurements and digital automation technology will be combined with the industry-leading Wärtsilä power generation, power distribution and vessel automation systems. By combining their marine expertise and extensive project management experience, the two world-class suppliers will deliver project efficiency, speed and savings for FPSO builders. Both companies are committed to providing integrated systems on a common platform needed by operators that convert their tankers to FPSOs.

The first collaborative project of the alliance is for BW Offshores FPSO BW Enterprise. The delivery includes power distribution with high- and medium voltage Motor Control Centers (MCC's), and Safety & Automation Systems including Emerson's PlantWeb® digital automation architecture and Daniel® metering station, instruments and valves.
