Emerson Named Best Provider of Process Management Technology by Chemical Industry Professionals for Third Consecutive Year

Company strongly preferred in seven product categories in 2006 Chemical Processing magazine Readers' Choice Awards

Austin, Texas (September 21, 2006) - Emerson Process Management, an Emerson business (NYSE:EMR), has been named the Best Technology Provider of process management products in seven categories in Chemical Processing magazine's third annual Readers' Choice Awards. And for the third consecutive year, industry professionals named Emerson best provider of process automation systems, process analyzers, valves and actuators, and flow, level, pressure and temperature instrumentation.

Presented with a blank text box in which to type their answers, users were asked to name the one company they think is the best provider of equipment, software and engineering services. "Emerson was named more often than any other company and dominated responses in some categories, clearly showing that users view the company as a technology leader," says Mark Rosenzweig, Chemical Processing editor-in-chief. "Users vote only in categories in which they have firsthand experience with the technology. They have to type their choices in a blank space in each category, so every company has an equal chance to be named."

Emerson's products are networked on the company's revolutionary PlantWebâ digital plant architecture that delivers asset management, process control and management execution through the use of intelligent FOUNDATION fieldbus devices, standard network communications, and integrated modular software.

Emerson's seven first-place wins include percentages as high as 5-to-1 over the next named company. Emerson divisions were named No. 1 in flow instrumentation (54%), pressure instrumentation (42%), temperature instrumentation (36%), level instrumentation (35%), process automation systems (32%), valves/actuators (33%), and process analyzers (16%). Emerson also placed second in vibration monitoring equipment and fourth in motors.

"We are gratified that our customers have given us such a strong vote of confidence," said John Berra, president of Emerson Process Management. "We try our best to listen to our customers, respond with innovative solutions and invest in the product technology and support they tell us that they want. This survey shows that we are delivering what industry users are seeking in process control products, solutions and services."
