Emerson Global Users Exchange 2007 Draws Record Attendance

Comprehensive user-driven conference focuses on the application of Emerson enabling technologies and services

AUSTIN, TEXAS (November 6 , 2007) -The 2007 Emerson Global Users Exchange (www.EmersonExchange.org) drew a record attendance of 2,432 process and manufacturing professionals from 52 countries worldwide. This year's conference, held September 10-14 in Grapevine, Texas, under the theme, Engineering Revolution-Are You Ready?, celebrated that engineers are once again in demand around the world as leaders in the technology revolution.

"This was by far the largest Emerson Exchange ever, and comments throughout the week indicate that we have adapted to this large growth, while at the same time improving upon the depth and quality of the content throughout the event," says Marty Edwards, industry liaison lead for the Critical Infrastructure Protection and Resilience Division at the Idaho National Laboratory and chairman of the 2007 Emerson Global Users Exchange. "No industry event equals this opportunity to network with peers, view and offer input about developing technologies, and take away new knowledge, ideas and techniques."

The annual conference focuses on the application of Emerson enabling technologies and services and is one of the industry's most comprehensive collections of user-driven presentations, workshops and exhibits on technology selection and application, investment justification and automation strategy.

Keynote speaker Alan Boeckmann, chairman and chief executive officer of Fluor Corporation, one of the world's leading and largest engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services companies, spoke on how the fundamental transformation of capital projects has changed over the past 20 years and gave recommendations on what the industry can do to better leverage engineering talent resources while simultaneously reducing project cycle time and costs.

Attendees also were privileged to hear from management visionary Peter Schutz, former CEO of Porsche AG and author of The Driving Force - Extraordinary Results with Ordinary People. Mr. Schutz gave several standing room only sessions describing the methodology he used to turn the Porsche automobile company around in the early 80s.

Participants were overwhelmingly positive in describing their experience at the Emerson Exchange. Comments range from "I'm really anxious to go back and put into practice what I've learned here"; "I came here for the education and I'm getting that" and "I'm already having ideas that I can implement on site" to "the networking is probably the most important part of the whole thing"; "they were giving presentations on exactly what I needed to take it to the next step" and "you make excellent contacts-it's a win-win both ways." Participant comments, the full conference agenda and other details are available at www.EmersonExchange.org.

Led by users for users, the Emerson Exchange offers educational and leadership sessions for all levels of process manufacturing professionals and provides a valuable forum for exchange of information among process manufacturers, end-users and Emerson experts. The extensive program this year included more than 300 sessions offering best practices, implementation successes, tips and tricks, and proven project methodologies. The event featured four keynote speakers, a special management seminar, 16 new Educational Services courses, industry business forums, round tables, workshops, short courses, and extensive technology exhibits.

Plans are currently underway for the 2008 Emerson Global Users Exchange Conference to be held September 29-October 3, 2008, at the Gaylord National in Washington, DC.
