Emerson Allies with Intergraph to Streamline Data Management of Automation Projects and Plants

Emerson optimizes PlantWeb® engineering work processes by joining Intergraph's SmartPlant® alliance program
AUSTIN, TEXAS. (November 27, 2006) - Emerson Process Management has joined the SmartPlant® Alliance Program of Intergraph Corporation, a leading global supplier of engineering and information management products. This new agreement expands Emerson's current use of Intergraph's lifecycle instrumentation engineering software and enhances interoperability and efficiency between Emerson's DeltaV(TM) digital automation system, a core component of the company's PlantWeb® digital plant architecture, and Intergraph's SmartPlant Instrumentation software.

Through this alliance, Emerson will collaborate with Intergraph to provide enhanced bi-directional integration between PlantWeb digital architecture products and technology and the SmartPlant Enterprise portfolio of products. As a first priority, Emerson's DeltaV automation system will be integrated with SmartPlant Instrumentation. This integration will provide a bi-directional data exchange capability allowing a reduction in the time and an increase in accuracy when configuring and documenting PlantWeb digital plant architecture projects. The integrated software will also form the engineering information basis needed to support key activities during operation & maintenance of process plants.

"Emerson is a leading supplier of process automation systems and services, and we sincerely value their openness and partnership as it creates yet another point of interoperability between engineering, and operations and maintenance," commented Patrick Holcomb, executive vice president, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine. "We look forward to continuing work with Emerson to expand integration and interoperability between DeltaV systems and PlantWeb across the broad documentation and data management functionality of SmartPlant instrumentation software."

"We have recognized SmartPlant Instrumentation as a world-leading instrument design standard used by all the engineering procurement companies and owner operator companies with which Emerson does business," said Duncan Schleiss, vice president of marketing for the process systems division of Emerson Process Management. "Intergraph's integrated SmartPlant Enterprise strategy is clearly one of the primary components in the broad industry trend toward interoperability. We are glad to be working with Intergraph to provide enhanced interoperability for our clients."
