Emerson Adds Laser Shaft Alignment Capability to its Machinery Health(TM) Analyzer

This pioneering wireless enhancement to the CSI 2130 Machinery Health Analyzer delivers the industry's most complete portable tool to assess and maintain mechanical equipment.

AUSTIN, TEXAS (February 23, 2006) - Emerson Process Management has added laser shaft alignment capability to the CSI 2130 Machinery Health(TM) Analyzer. With Emerson's pioneering wireless laser fixtures, machine shaft alignment is quicker and easier than ever before, minimizing plant outages and getting production back on line fast.

Addition of laser shaft alignment rounds out the CSI 2130 to offer users the industry's most complete set of capabilities for fast, accurate assessment of rotating machinery condition. The CSI 2130 is now able to address all of the following maintenance needs:

o Single- and dual-channel vibration analysis
o Cross channel analysis
o Transient analysis
o Structural analysis (collects data for ODS and Modal animation)
o Motor monitoring
o Dynamic balancing
o Laser shaft alignment

The CSI 2130 builds on the capabilities of Emerson's widely successful CSI 2120 analyzer while adding a backlit, full color display with four times the resolution. Color-coded reports present complex machinery data in a format that makes it easy to drive through to the required action. When using the "live machine move" in the new alignment application, for instance, the machine target dynamically transitions from red to yellow to green as the two shafts come into alignment.

The modular design of the CSI 2130 ensures a solid investment in technology, allowing users to initially select only the required functionality and then upgrade the unit to add other capabilities at any time - often in the field.

Equipped with a large internal memory, expandable memory and optional Ethernet communications, the CSI 2130 uploads collected data for analysis, trending and reporting to the AMS(TM) Suite: Machinery Health Manager software, a key element of Emerson's PlantWeb® digital plant architecture. These capabilities make the CSI 2130 the most versatile and comprehensive unit available for maintaining the health of rotating machinery.
