Edifecs HIPAADesk was conceived in 2001 when Edifecs recognized that fees and resources related to testing and certification of HIPAA compliance could easily cost the healthcare industry hundreds of millions of dollars. The industry was not prepared to spend this kind of investment as transaction testing was one step of a much bigger and elaborate process of implementing HIPAA.
