Easy Retrofitting of Current-Measuring Technology

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Phoenix Contact now offers a Rogowski coil solution to easily retrofit current-measuring applications up to 4000 A. The PACT RCP current transformer (CT) is an alternative to split-core current transformers and other CT technologies.

The Rogowski coil is a flexible, rope-styled CT. Because it is designed as a loop, the Rogowski coil can be separated easily for quick installation on an existing busbar or wire. The user does not have to remove system parts, which reduces expensive downtime. The Rogowski principle eliminates the dangerous open-circuit voltages inherent to split-core CTs and the need for CT shorting blocks.

Phoenix Contact's Rogowski kit measures alternating currents in eight ranges, from 0-100 A to 0-4000 A. There are two available transducers that provide customers with a choice of a 0-1 A CT output or a standard 0-10 V/4-20 mA analog output.

Phoenix Contact's MINI Pro analog output module offers the user a 0-10 V/4-20 mA option for easy integration into most control systems. The 0-1 A output is the first and only standard 0-1 A CT output Rogowski solution on the market. This transforms the output signal of the coil into a true 0-1 A current transformer that can be integrated into any system requiring a CT input, including energy monitoring and management devices.
