Dr. Bruce Capron Joins Melles Griot Optics Group as Director of Sales & Marketing

Rochester, New York - Dr. Bruce Capron has joined Melles Griot Optics Group
in Rochester, New York as director of sales and marketing. In his new role,
Dr. Capron will report to Charles Synborski, general manager, and will manage
all North American sales, marketing, applications engineering, and customer
service activities related to the Melles Griot Optics Group's optical components,
optical systems, coatings, electronic shutters, and electro-optic assembly
businesses. Additionally, he will support Melles Griot sales and marketing
activities in Europe and Japan.

Most recently Dr. Capron served as sales manager at LSI Solutions, a laparoscopic
medical device developer and manufacturer. Prior to that position, he provided marketing consulting services to regional technology firms. Earlier, he served as director of business development for Sinclair Optics, a developer of advanced lens-design software.
From 1990-1996 Dr. Capron was employed as manager of business development and earlier,
manager of laser systems engineering, at GSI-Lumonics, Optics Division, where he
developed and marketed advanced optical components, coatings, lasers, and telecommunications industry-related products. Prior to this experience, Dr. Capron participated as a product-development scientist at Nortel and Silicon Valley Group.
Dr. Capron earned his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of California,
Berkeley and an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from the University of
Maine. He is also a licensed instrument-rated pilot. Dr. Capron brings to Melles Griot a deep technical background and a strong customer oriented view of sales and marketing
management.
