Dow Corning Offers Release Coatings Workshop at AWA Global Release Liner Industry Conference

MIDLAND, MICHIGAN, USA: At the 2009 AWA Global Release Liner Industry Conference, Dow Corning Corporation will offer a Release Coatings Workshop, 1-5 p.m., March 4, at the Hyatt Regency Miami Hotel in Miami, Fla., USA. Dow Corning also will present "Asian Release Liner Market and Silicone Usage Trends" from 11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m., March 6, and will have a tabletop display at the conference exhibition.

During Dow Corning's Release Coatings Workshop, Release Coating Technical Service Specialist Lori Dehlin will describe the role of formulation components and how they can affect performance. She also will give an overview of available equipment for application of silicone release coatings. Attendees will learn how to formulate or select materials to provide desired performance such as coatability, cure, release, and stability.

In addition, Global Release Segment Leader Norm Kanar will present "Asian Release Liner Market and Silicone Usage Trends." He will discuss trends in pressure sensitive release markets and how they have impacted recent development activities by market segment and by technology. The presentation will include an overview of silicone release market fundamentals in the Asia markets that drive customers to seek low-platinum systems with outstanding cure and anchorage properties.

"The cost of platinum metal continues to fluctuate," Kanar said. "Because platinum is an important component in silicone release systems, the release liner industry must try to minimize the consequences of these fluctuations.

"For example, Dow Corning recently launched innovative crosslinkers and release coatings in its proven solventless low-platinum Syl-Off® Advantage Series product line. These additions require even lower platinum levels at lower temperatures and provide customers with improved performance."

Dow Corning offers a comprehensive selection of innovative silicon-based adhesives, release coatings, and crosslinkers. In addition to materials, the company provides supportive services and solutions tailored to the specific business needs of the pressure sensitive industry.
