Dimension 3D Printing Group Announces Grant Program for Education Market

Leader in 3D printing offers schools $2,900 and $2,500 grants for its Dimension SST and BST 3D printers

MINNEAPOLIS — August 31, 2005 — The Dimension 3D Printing Group, a business unit of Stratasys, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSYS), announced today it will offer an automatic grant to schools that purchase its Dimension® SST or Dimension® BST 3D printers. The Educational Grant Program, which will run through Dec. 31, 2005, includes a $2,900 grant for the Dimension SST and a $2,500 grant for the Dimension BST.

The announcement follows on the success of Dimension's first annual Extreme Redesign awards program, a global design and 3D printing contest for high school and college students. The contest, which honored student winners at the National Design Engineering Show (NDES) in Chicago in March, helped confirm 3D printing's growing role within the education market.

"The recently published 2005 Wohlers Report cites academic institutions as one of the key markets embracing 3D printing technology, reinforcing our belief that 3D printing is quickly becoming an integral part of many school's engineering programs," said Jon Cobb, vice president and general manager of 3D printing for Stratasys. "As the leader in the 3D printing industry with nearly 45 percent market share in the United States, according to Wohlers, our goal with the Educational Grant Program is to make it even easier for students to have access to 3D printing technology."

The Dimension SST and BST build functional 3D prints from the bottom-up, one layer at a time. The system's Catalyst® software imports STL files and automatically slices and orients the model, creates necessary support structures and plots a precise deposition path for the 3D printer to follow. The Dimension SST includes all the functionality of the BST, and incorporates an automated soluble support removal system, enabling "hands-free" 3D printing

The Dimension SST sells for $29,900 and the Dimension BST sells for $24,900. Both products continue to be among the most affordable 3D printers in the industry, incorporating many key features found in modeling systems that cost tens of thousands of dollars more.

About The Dimension 3D Printing Group

The Dimension 3D Printing Group is a business unit of Stratasys, Inc., based in Minneapolis, Minn. Dimension 3D printers --–– which include the legacy Dimension and the enhanced Dimension SST –– are networked, desktop modeling systems that provide CAD (Computer-Aided-Design) users a fast, office-friendly, low-cost alternative for building functional 3D prints. Dimension 3D printers build accurate models layer by layer using durable ABS plastic, allowing users to not only evaluate design concepts, but test 3D prints for functionality, form and fit. As the first desktop 3D printer that sells for less than $25,000, Dimension incorporates many key features found in modeling systems that cost tens of thousands of dollars more.
