NFPA Releases Fire Prevention Information for People Who Are Deaf

The National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA), an ANSI member and audited designator, has released a video in American Sign Language in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week. This year’s theme is Hear the Beep Where You Sleep: Every Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm.

The video outlines the importance of having a working smoke alarm in each bedroom, outside of each separate sleeping area, and on every level of the home (including the basement). It also provides information on devices that meet the needs of people who are deaf. These include smoke alarms with special strobe lights and pillow shakers for use while sleeping.

To view the video and learn more about smoke alarms for people who are deaf, see the NFPA news item.

RIA to Hold Free Webinar on Vision Guided Robotics

The Robotics Industry Association (RIA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has announced that it will hold a free webinar on the current state and future possibilities of vision guided robotics. Integrators and vision companies will weigh in on the increased use of vision in factories, including assembly, pick and place, classic material handling applications, and process automation.

The webinar will be held on September 10 from noon to 1pm EDT. Registration is required. Stakeholders can also view a recording of the presentation any time after September 10. See the RIA website to learn more and to register.
