School Destroyed Just Hours before High School Graduation
Fremont, OH - August 24, 2010 - As part of a major relief effort, Crown Mats and Matting will contribute high performance entrance matting for the temporary facilities now being prepared for Lake High School, an Ohio high school that was destroyed by a tornado on June 6, 2010.
At least five people died as a result of the devastating tornado, which struck just hours before graduation ceremonies were to begin for the high school's senior class.

The tornado caused destruction throughout the entire community of Lake Township, located in northwestern Ohio, including damage to buildings, trees, and cars. However, the high school was one of the most severely impacted.
One former Lake High School student described the scene of the high school after the tornado as "completely unbelievable. I've never seen anything like this before. It looks like [the tornado] went straight through the center of the building. [It's] just gone . . . the school's completely torn apart."
According to Christopher Tricozzi, vice president of marketing for Crown, the school district sent out a call for help through the local newspaper just hours after the tornado struck.
One of the first concerns was finding a location for the school's high school graduation. Now, however, the big concern is making sure the temporary school buildings are clean, ready, and healthy for the new semester.
"We have always been actively involved with our community," says Tricozzi, "So when the [school] district said they needed entry mats for the temporary facilities, we were more than happy to help."
The school also needs everything from hand sanitizers to microscopes, according to Tricozzi. "We're hoping other jansan companies based in Ohio and around the country will lend a hand if they can."
