Delcam wins Outstanding Supplier Award from China Aviation Industry

In recognition of Delcam China's strong support for the Chinese aviation industry, the company was presented with an Outstanding Supplier Award at the recent celebrations of the 55th China Aviation Industry Anniversary. The ceremony was one of the highlights of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology & Aviation Industry Forum, which was held from October 28th to November 1st in Zhuhai, China, coincident with the 6th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition.

The Forum was organised by the Technology Development Department of the China Aviation Industry Corporation 1 (AVIC 1) and the Technology Department of the China Aviation Industry Corporation 2 (AVIC 2). It focused on promoting the development of the country's aviation manufacturing industry, and facilitating collaboration and communication between aviation enterprises from the domestic and the international market.

Leading specialists in the aerospace field presented on different aspects of advanced manufacturing technology, with particular attention given to high performance CNC machine tools and related issues in CNC technology. Joe Zhou, Delcam's Business Development Manager for Greater China, gave a presentation on "Improving Aerospace Manufacturing Quality and Efficiency with Digital Manufacturing".

This covered the latest developments for five-axis machining within Delcam's PowerMILL CAM system, the world's leading specialist machining software, and for in-process measurement within PowerINSPECT, the world's leading hardware-independent inspection software. Mr. Zhou also described how the two programs could be used together in a variety of adaptive machining methods that allow successful manufacture and repair of the most complex aerospace components.

"It was a great honour to receive this award on behalf of my colleagues in Delcam China for their work in support of China's aviation and aerospace industry," commented Mr. Zhou. "The award will also be welcomed by our development staff in the UK as recognition of their innovations in software for aircraft manufacture."
