Datalogic and Sick Resolve Patenting Disputes and Settle a Licence Agreement

Bologna, November 30, 2010 - Datalogic S.p.A., a leader on the market of bar code readers, data collection mobile computers, RFID and vision systems, and its subsidiary Datalogic Automation S.r.l., a leading worldwide producer of automatic identification, detection and marking solutions and products for applications in the industrial automation and transportation & logistics industries, announce that they have settled all pending disputes with Sick A.G. and that they have contextually granted a license for the use of Datalogic's technology to the German company in the field of stationary barcode scanners for industrial applications.

This agreement will allow Sick to continue using Datalogic's technology, known as PackTrack(TM), in its stationary scanners.

This technology, which is devised and patented by Datalogic, significantly increases the productivity of traditional sorting and tracking systems that require high reading performance. There are many applications, from postal services, couriers, distribution centres and airport baggage handling systems.

The agreement puts an end to the judiciary disputes between the two companies, which were initiated in 2005 by Datalogic and defines a procedure to resolve any feasible future disputes. Further conditions of the agreement remain strictly confidential.

Mauro Sacchetto, CEO of Datalogic stated: "We are very pleased to have reached this favourable agreement with Sick, as it proves how our investments in R&D and in protecting our intellectual property rights have enabled us to develop highly innovative products; our technological solutions are currently state-of-the-art and are safeguarded by 890 patents and are of interest to other companies too. It is further proof of the importance of investing major resources to protect our technological solutions, which also produce positive economic effects, as in the case of this important agreement".
