DAQTron Introduces 3501 Compact PCI Express Module

DAQTron 3501 Offload Engine Combines Processor and FPGA in Single Slot 3U Compact PCI Module

ATLANTA, Aug. 5 -- DAQTron, Inc., an industry leader in the implementation of broadband test products and systems solutions, introduced the 3501 Offload Engine, a 3U Compact PCI Express (cPCIe) module containing both a processor and an FPGA.

The DAQTron 3501 Offload Engine is the ultimate module for taking demands off of the host CPU in a cPCIe system. Using a hybrid approach of embedded processor and FPGA, tasks that would normally overload the host CPU or the backplane can easily be offloaded to onboard processing. Further, the ability to segment the application either to the onboard embedded processor or the FPGA allows for the most efficient design possible. The 3501 is intended to be used with other cPCI I/O modules. Data to/from these I/O modules can either be directed through the backplane and host CPU to/from the 3501, or streamed directly using peer-to-peer streaming (available in the near future).

DAQTron is currently in Beta test phase with the 3501 and expects to begin shipping the product in Q1 2009.
