Cybertrust Achieves Cross-Certification with SAFE(TM) Digital Identity Standard

As First Cross-Certified Information Security Company, Cybertrust Continues its Leadership and Commitment to SAFE-BioPharma Association

HERNDON, Va., April 18 / -- SAFE-BioPharma Association today announced that Cybertrust(R), the global information security specialist, has officially become the first information security company to be cross-certified with the SAFE(TM) Bridge Certificate Authority. In addition, Cybertrust is the first organization, along with Johnson & Johnson Services, to attain cross-certification. Achieving cross-certification allows Cybertrust to offer additional services to its customers who are SAFE members, such as the ability to offer SAFE digital identity credentials and SAFE authentication and digital signature services.

The mission of SAFE is to deliver unique electronic identity credentials for legally enforceable and regulatory compliant digital signatures across the global bio-pharmaceutical environment. The SAFE credential supports business-to-business, and business to regulator transactions. The SAFE standard is a secure, reliable means of communicating and executing transactions over public and private networks between mission-critical applications.

"Cybertrust is helping the healthcare industry achieve a common method of identity assurance, transforming the way it does business," said Mollie Shields-Uehling, president and CEO, SAFE-BioPharma Association. "As the first company to be cross-certified with the SAFE standard, Cybertrust is simplifying the process for SAFE members to efficiently and securely collaborate across the industry. Cybertrust's leadership will facilitate the widespread exchange and acceptance of SAFE-signed electronic transmissions."

"Cybertrust has been involved with SAFE since its inception, and is proud to continue our work with SAFE and its members to expand the scope of services available to the community and to grow the value of the SAFE credential," said Tom Greco, Cybertrust vice president of enabling infrastructures. "Achieving cross-certification will allow us to provide SAFE members and our customers with additional services to help them achieve simplified, secure, and streamlined business-to-business and business-to-regulatory information exchange."

Cybertrust currently hosts the SAFE BioPharma Bridge Certificate Authority, which provides SAFE with the technical and operational system to facilitate the interoperability of SAFE credentials. As a SAFE Issuer, Cybertrust can supply credential issuance and validation services to those members of the SAFE community who have not established that capability themselves.
