Cope Plastics, Inc. – Alton, IL attended the 60th Annual International Association of Plastics Distribution Convention & Plastics Showcase in Phoenix, AZ last week. The IAPD brings together manufacturers, fabricators, distributors, recyclers, manufacturers’ representatives and service providers for the plastic sheet, rod, tube and profile industry.

Jane Saale, President of Cope Plastics Inc., was the recipient of the very prestigious 2016 Paul Davis Award of Merit for her many years of outstanding personal and professional contribution to the association and the plastics industry. Saale was elected as IAPD’s first woman president in 2012, and during her two-year term, she oversaw many of the improvements currently benefitting the association.

Each year, the organization presents awards to honored members in various categories. This year, the IAPD announced the 2016 Environmental Excellence Award recipients, recognizing accomplishments of companies in the development of environmentally friendly materials and the manufacture of plastics in an environmentally responsible manner. IAPD awarded Cope with the Gold Environmental Excellence Award. Cope has expanded its recycling program to include 36 different grades of plastic, which make up nearly 90 percent of the material distributed through or consumed by the company.

Education is a big part of IAPD’s mission, and Cope received a Gold Award for the IAPD 2016 Education Circle of Champions. This category awards companies for their commitment to continuing plastics education and sales training through IAPD’s certification programs and education resources. “Ben Franklin once said, ‘an investment in knowledge pays the best interest.’ I am pleased to see so many member companies taking advantage of and benefitting from the fantastic resources that the IAPD has to offer,” said IAPD Education Committee Chair Mark Steele.

Three companies received the IAPD Marketing Excellence Award. Cope Plastics was among the recipients, awarded for actively promoting performance plastics and launching an online store for selling remnants of stock  shapes created from its manufacturing processes. The company also launched its first finished part for sale, Waterjet Bricks, which are suited for straight and abrasive water-jet cutting.
