Converting Natural Gas to Chemical Feedstocks: Linde Gas LLC Commissions New Carbon Monoxide Plant

July 17, 2006 (Cleveland) - Linde Gas LLC announced today that it has commissioned a new on-site carbon monoxide plant as part of a recent Linde Gas expansion of an existing carbon monoxide gas facility in McIntosh, Alabama to serve the chemicals industry along the State Route 43 corridor between McIntosh and Mobile.
"Linde's proprietary carbon monoxide generating technology provides our customer base with a cost effective and safe source of carbon monoxide gas for use in chemical synthesis," said Gene Allen, Linde Gas' Vice President North America for On-site Business. "This project marks a significant milestone in Linde's development of unique process solutions for complex chemical production environments."
This latest project represents Linde's fourth Steam Methane Reformer serving the North American market including the recently announced hydrogen plant at Shell Chemical in Saraland, Alabama. "We are especially excited to be working again with the chemical industry in Alabama to develop this unique process solution and we are eager to continue to own and operate the latest Linde Gas process innovations in the Carbon Monoxide, Syngas, and Hydrogen markets," remarked Chris McCrea, Linde Gas Hydrogen Systems Program Manager.
