Constellation NewEnergy and Jurys Boston Hotel Agree to Match Electricity Usage with 100 Percent Renewable Energy

Renewable Energy Credits secured for Jurys Boston Hotel are a critical part of the hotel's sustainable and industry-leading environmental practices

BALTIMORE, Oct. 4 /-- Constellation Energy (NYSE:CEG) today announced that its subsidiary, Constellation NewEnergy, has entered into a green electricity purchase agreement with the Jurys Boston Hotel. As part of the agreement, Constellation NewEnergy will provide approximately 7 million kilowatt hours of Green-e certified Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) for 100 percent of the hotel's electricity usage, making Jurys one of the first hotels in Boston to match its entire load with green energy sources.

"Working with Constellation NewEnergy to match 100 percent of the hotel's energy demands further underscores our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint," said Stephen Johnston, general manager of Jurys Boston Hotel. "We believe our investment in green business practices not only sets us apart from our competition, it is embraced by our discerning guests who seek both luxurious amenities alongside sustainable business practices. You could say that 'greening' our Irish hotel has always been a priority for us."

Winner of the First Annual City of Boston Green Business Awards 2007 for "Green Business Practices," and named an "Energy Star Hotel" in 2006 by the EPA, Jurys' decision to match 100 percent of its electricity usage with RECs complements a number of other sustainability initiatives, including:
o Ozone-based laundry system - an innovative and environmentally-friendly
laundry system reduces hot water consumption, sewer usage and chemical
usage;
o Water consumption - the hotel installed low-flow faucets, showerheads
and toilets to reduce water consumption;
o Training - employees are encouraged to participate in programs on
environmental leadership, best management practices, hazardous waste
management, recycling procedures and green cuisine;
o Food service - Jurys' award-winning Stanhope Grille uses local and
organic produce as well as sustainable food products whenever feasible,
including herbs and vegetables grown in the hotel's unique rooftop
garden;
o Recycling programs - paper, glass and plastic are recycled.

"We are pleased to support Jurys Boston Hotel's sustainable environmental practices by providing them with sources of clean and renewable energy to match their electricity usage," said Carrie Cullen Hitt, vice president for Renewable Products for Constellation NewEnergy. "Jurys' environmental leadership sets a powerful example for the industry, and is very much aligned with Constellation NewEnergy's commitment to offer innovative green energy products and solutions to our customers across North America."

The secured RECs will help Jurys replace the carbon emissions produced during the combustion of fossil fuels with clean, renewable generation resources. The environmental impact of one certified REC is comparable to eliminating the emissions associated with one megawatt hour of electricity produced by a fossil fuel generator.
