Congressman Pete Olson Visit Marks the Beginning of Atec, Inc.'s "We Can Green It!" (TM) Campaign

District 22nd Congressman Pete Olson, visited Atec, Inc., Thursday, January 14th 2010, for a tour of Atec's main plant. He viewed a wide variety of manufacturing processes, such as assemblers producing cables used for aircraft jet engine testing, Atec's 5-axis CNC machinists cutting high tolerance rocket engine components in support of NASA programs, and the quality assurance inspectors testing to leading edge standards of ISO 9001 and AS9100 certification. Olson witnessed firsthand the strides Atec's engineers take to ensure that their products are highly reliable when used in harsh environments such as downhole oil drilling.

"It was a pleasure to tour Atec and witness the exciting technology that is being applied in their operations," Rep. Pete Olson said. "Atec is the type of company that will put our nation back on the path to economic recovery. They help answer crucial questions by utilizing a highly skilled and technical workforce."

For Congressman Olson's visit, and as a prelude to the Heli-Expo tradeshow returning to the George R. Brown Convention Center February 21-23rd this year, Atec unveiled its newest marketing campaign, "We Can Green It!" (TM). The campaign highlights Atec's commitment to make precision, reliable products that have a measurable, positive impact to the environment. Atec's "We Can Green It!"(TM) signature image is meant to renew the team spirit of community, business and government, and is represented by the iconic "Rosie The Riveter, We Can Do It" posters that were popular during WWII.

Atec's featured product for the "We Can Green It!"(TM) campaign is the Phoenix(TM) Modular Test Facility which advances helicopter engine testing. The facility is unique because it is delivered to the customer as a moveable stand-alone unit with all systems onboard and boasts a concept never before seen in test cell design, "green" engine testing. The unit features all utilities above ground in dual containment and open sight to eliminate hidden leakage, as well as a never before seen regenerative power, electric dynomomenter system. Engine testing is a critical process that burns fuel to provide confirmation that every rebuilt engine is safe to install back into a helicopter. The regenerative drive system in Atec's Phoenix(TM) facility converts otherwise lost energy into generated electricity that is put onto the grid. Atec Vice President, Brian Durbin remarked, "Owners of Atec's Phoenix(TM) test cells get to see their electrical power meter running backwards which is money back in their pockets."

Atec, Inc., is a 55 year old engineering and manufacturing company that specializes in product turnkey system solutions for aerospace and energy clients worldwide. Atec is a recognized leader in military and commercial engine test facilities and equipment for all turbine engine types: turboshaft, turboprop and turbofan. "We Can Green It!"(TM) is a trademark of Atec, Inc.
